KDMHA Season End Update

2021-03-23

Dear KDMHA Families

It has come to our attention that there has been speculation on the reason KDMHA ended the season 10 days early. KDMHA would like to share the following for our members:

KDMHA volunteers have worked tirelessly this past season to follow all Public Health directions for the safety of all teams while respecting the privacy for all families. The decision to end the season was not taken lightly by Executive and was based on multiple factors:

  • An increase in confirmed cases within our community;

  • Neighboring Public Health Units moving to Red Zone status (disqualifying some of our members from continuing participation in our programs);

  • And the full expectation that our region would move to Red Zone status in the near future, shutting down our ability to finish the season.

This past season, teams in session one and session two were faced with situations where Public Health investigated potential exposure and assessed our members as high/low/no risk, with accompanying direction regarding testing, monitoring, isolating etc. In all cases, KDMHA acted quickly, in step with community partners, and implemented our COVID Policy for continued safety of our members, at no time was KDMHA identified by Public Health as a source of outbreak. We all deserve to have our personal health information protected and we ask all to remain kind and resist any speculations.

On behalf of KDMHA, we are proud of our collective accomplishments this year and the help of all volunteers to get our players on the ice in a way that still fostered development, team spirit and fun for our players.

Please stay tuned for an email regarding refunds in the coming week.

Thank you,

Stacey Seymour
