Help Wanted – Risk & Safety and Royals U13

There are two important positions available on the KDMHA Board of Directors: Risk and Safety Director and Royals U13 Convenor.

Please consider applying or nominating for these KDMHA Executive roles.

Note: This year, someone with health/medical knowledge would be especially valuable in the Risk & Safety position.
 

Risk & Safety Director

20. Risk & Safety Director: The Risk & Safety Director shall:

  1. Be Responsible for the KDMHA’s involvement in Risk Management, Fair Play Codes, and the Hockey Canada Insurance Program as per the Safety Requires Teamwork & Safety for All manual [and recent Hockey Canada ‘Return to Hockey’ COVID-19 Safety Guidelines];
  2. Represent the Association at HEO/HEO Minor and OWHA/ODWHA safety committees;
  3. Ensure Directors and Team Officials understand the content of the Safety Requires Teamwork & Safety for All manual [and recent Hockey Canada ‘Return to Hockey’ COVID-19 Safety Guidelines];
  4. Be responsible for the KDMHA adhering to the Hockey Canada National Screening Policy;
  5. Providing Directors, Officers, Team Officials, and Members with advice on Risk Management, Fair Play Codes, and the Hockey Canada Insurance Program;
  6. Be responsible for their role in the Complaint Resolution Process;
  7. Sit on the Coach Selection Committee;
    1. Provide the members of the Coach Selection Committee with records of previous suspensions and incidents of Head Coach Candidates and Team Official Candidates;
  8. Not be allowed to be a Head Coach. If there is a shortage of applicants during the Coach Selection Process, they may be considered for a Head Coach Position providing they have the appropriate credentials;
    1. Sit on the Annual Coaches Meeting Panel;
  9. Duty to address Trainers of any pertinent information regarding Risk Management; and
  10. Act as a Privacy Officer for the KDMHA.

 

Division Convenor

28. Division Convenors: The Division Convenors shall:
  1. Be responsible for their Divisions Player Evaluation Process, and Player Allocation Process;
  2. Be responsible for their role in the Complaint Resolution Process;
  3. Submit monthly reports to their Vice President detailing team records and standings, suspensions, injuries, and incidents;
  4. Collect Police Record Checks and Vulnerable Sector Checks from team Managers and submit them to the Risk & Safety Director by November 30 of the current season;
  5. Not be allowed to be the Division Convenor for a Division where they have a child participating.
  6. If a Member is nominated as a potential Division Convenor at the AGM, who has a child in the Division they would Convene, they may be elected to be that Division Convenor providing they are the sole nominee or have a majority vote in the case of multiple nominees; and
  7. Not be allowed to be a Head Coach in their Division. If there is a shortage of applicants during the Coach Selection Process, they may be considered for a Head Coach Position providing they have the appropriate credentials.
