"Spring Registration Newsletter

April 16, 2020

Hello KDMHA Families,

We hope that all families are staying well and healthy during this difficult time. These last several weeks have been challenging for everyone as we learn to cope with a different way of doing things to stay safe. We are all missing our hockey families!

KDMHA Executive has met virtually to discuss next steps and planning will be a bit different for a while longer, but we are indeed planning for a hockey season.

Registration for the 2020-21 season has now opened and you can find the registration details on the KDMHA website here.

We have made some slight changes/updates to registrations this year:
  • KDMHA has waived the late registration fee for this year. We do encourage all families to register by June 14th as registration spots will fill up for the 2020-21 season and registering after this date could result in players being placed on a waiting list

  • Payment Due date will be extended to August 15th this year. After this date any registrations not paid could incur a late fee penalty ($150/family). We hope that all families will be able to return to hockey next year. KDMHA Executive understands that not all situations are the same and during this time there are so many uncertainties for families and finances. Please contact the Registrars or Treasurer for any questions about the registration process and fees; we will do our best to work with families during this unprecedented time.

  • All divisions (Royals and Storm) will now follow Hockey Canada Age Division names;

    • U7 (born 2016, 2015, 2014) was IP
    • U9 (born 2013, 2012) was Novice
    • U11 (born 2011, 2010) was Atom
    • U13 (born 2009, 2008) was Peewee
    • U15 (born 2007, 2006) was Bantam
    • U18 (born 2005, 2004, 2003) was Midget
    • U21 (born 2002, 2001, 2000) was Juvenile
  • Each Camp and Tryout will each require its own registration form – this is to help volunteers with workloads around registrations.

  • Please look for each LINK at the bottom of the Registration page on the website or within your Manage My Account login.

  • U9 and U11 registration will include four Skill Sessions after Labour Day that will be included in registration this year. There is no need to register for camps for these 2 divisions.

  • KDMHA recieved interest in hosting a U21 (Juvenile) league for the 2020-21 season. This Division will hold on Royals team and play in the LCMHL (Lanark Carleton Minor Hockey League). The season will consist of 24 games and only a few practices at the beginning of the season. Associations within the division will be West Carleton, Richmond and Osgoode. Registration will determine the ability to hold a Royals U21 team this year.

Now that registration is now open, the Executive will look at some next steps;

  1. Closing out 2019-20 Season – Team Managers/Coaches will soon receive an email from the Treasurer through their Convener to look at options for closing out team accounts. Unfortunately teams will not be able to hold end of year parties at this time. To avoid further bank fees and the need to continue managing a team account Managers/Coach will be in touch with their teams to let them know next steps for any funds in accounts and share year end financials

  2. Jerseys and Name Bars – please hang up your jerseys (after they have been washed as per the Jersey policy). Once it is safe to do so, teams will gather the Jerseys for name bar removal and to get them returned to KDMHA for the following season. We thank all families for taking care of these new jerseys so that they are ready for next season.

  3. Unfortunately, we were not able to hold an AGM in April, and it does not look like we will be able to hold one soon. We have Executive that are interested in stepping down for the 2020-21 season. In the upcoming weeks, the Executive will meet again virtually to discuss how we can hold an AGM and an election for the upcoming year. It is likely we may have a virtual AGM and the format on how we vote in board members could be different for this year. If you were thinking about volunteering on the Executive, now is the time to consider joining a great organization as a volunteer board member. As soon as we have details, we will post to our website and social media.

  4. Storm Comp Head Coach Selection for next season has started and those coaches selected have been listed on the website here. Royals Rep Head Coach applications will be available soon for the 2020-21 season and will be due towards the end of May for selection in late June. Please watch the website and social media for updates.

We thank all our families for patience while we navigate through this unknown time. KDMHA will continue to post any updates or information we receive to our website and social media sites. If you have not liked or followed our sites, please do so to stay up to date on any news we receive from our Governing Bodies.

Until then, stay safe, stay healthy and stay strong.
