Summer 2010 4-on-4 Hockey

KDMHA is pleased to announce the 4-on-4 summer hockey program will be offered again this year starting mid-May. For those not familiar with the program, it simply offers kids a chance to enjoy the game of hockey – no contact and no keeping score – just skating, passing, scoring and enjoying the game. The program is open to novice to juvenile players that were registered in KDMHA in 2009/10 and kids play at the same level as they did during the season. The program will start Monday May 17th and run until Thursday July 29th. Schedule times are as follows:

Exclusion dates are the two holidays of  Monday May 24th and Thursday July 1st. A schedule of what levels at what times is not yet finalized – we will review soccer and baseball schedules and attempt to minimize same-age level conflicts as much as possible (however rest assured it won’t be conflict free!).

We have 68 ice slots over the 11-week period. In order to accommodate the number of kids that will register, we may decide to offer, for example, a 10-session program (spread over 11 weeks) instead of the typical once-a-week session. More details will be shared as registration progresses. However, for planning purposes, the registration cost will be in the range of $90 to $110. (To participate, it is mandatory that each player have a reversible hockey jersey - see below for details. If a jersey is required, plan for an additional $25-$30 cost on top of the registration fee. If a player does not have a reversible jersey for the start of the 4-on-4, s/he will be de-registered from the program). Note that these fees are subject to change as more details are released.

Registration

REGISTRATION WILL BE BY EMAIL ONLY starting Monday March 22nd and ending Sunday March 28th. Early registration is not allowed – emails received before March 22nd will simply be deleted. Up to 24 skaters (i.e., 3 lines each bench) and four goalies will be accepted at each level. If the program is full by the time you register, you will receive an email as such with the option of placement on a spare list.

Again, we will follow-up with final costs and instructions for payment within a couple weeks following registration

Jersey Sizing

Jersey's are available in:

• One youth size (large/extra large),
•  Five senior sizes (small, medium, large, extra large, and double extra large),
•  and goalie cut.

Remember to measure with shoulder and elbow pads on the player. As rough guidelines,

• Novice (Youth, bigger than average Senior Small),
• Atom (Youth to Senior Small, bigger than average Senior Medium),
• PW (Senior Medium, bigger than average Senior Large),
• Bantam to Midget (Senior Large, bigger than average Senior X-Large).

Please note this is for sizing only, KDMHA will coordinate the jersey order.
